( Generally by now I would have already draped a lovely scene in here for you to gaze at, but bear with me.)
Well, it was late and so I bailed and then the next day I poked through my blog and took out a few photos here and there and started reading back in my archives and was amazed out how much is here to read, if one chooses and can find their way through it . So at that point I was not only wondering what to do about photos, and yes, some I should have made smaller before I uploaded them, and I could rectify that, but we are talking time and patience and that is more costly than money....anyway...I started thinking about organization and layout. Those pesky labels, do I have just a few generic ones or do I name drop and make a cloud big enough for a deluge?
In the meantime, if you are new here, I hope you will read my first entry on this blog from January 2009 found here: Non- Zero Compliance , and then another short piece written in February of 2009 that talks, in part, about how I chose the name Bread on the Water for my web log: Bread, Money, Energy . And wander around, whenever and where ever you like of course...
I thank those of you who do stop by and read and if you take the time and go through the process of leaving a comment, you are doubly thanked. Now it's time to pick labels for this posts...hm mm...can't get away from this organizational categorizing stuff, can I?
And do vist my other blog where I did actually post just yesterday...Write Purpose.
And if you know how to organize blog labels in a really effective way...or have any other good advice for me...let's hear it. Thanks!

What? I have never heard of that and how much did they want you to pay. Your lovely photos go so well with your lovely words. Both are needed.
Silly Blogger.

•"All photos posted to Blogger are included in the 1GB of free storage allotted to Picasa Web Albums. Files under certain sizes don't count towards this limit."
That above quote, from google's blog help page...(I searched 'pay for pictures google blog')....would seem to point to the problem...I always 'save for web' my pics in Photo Elements...they are reduced to like 72 dpi, or something, the web standard...and I've never used the picassa option, though, I'm guessing, all my pics are there too...but this little post filled me with trepidation!!...years and years ago I posted to GEnie, an online serice like AOL, but before..there was another, I forget...Sears I think was involved!...anyway...GEnie was free, just like the web for most part is now, except for outlandish phone bills for cell phones, but then, GEnie started to want to charge...hmmph...but web services changed a lot in a hurry, and the comptition for ads is such, that, like tv, before cable!, eveyone gets a lot of free stuff..like blogs...cool, I think, and hope it doesn't change!...
Oh I will miss your pictures if you're not going to be able to share ♥ I started blogging in 2008 and perhaps I haven't shared as many photos, but haven't had any notices about needing to pay.
I never read the fine print either... I am hopeful you can find a good compromise because I really look forward to the views from your home on the West coast.
That happened to me back when I used a picture hosting site. I paid for a while before blogger hosted pictures. I will check out your other blog. Didn't know you had it. Blessings!
Thanks everyone...David you are right...I began exploring the links there and will figure it out. Also, last night I redid one of recent blogs where my camera must have been set on gigantic and so I reduced the size of pictures and reposted them...a bit labor intensive but will give me some time to figure out the parameters of using blogger for free.
I ran out of storage a year ago and have been paying $5 a year now for more storage space than I will ever use - that was a small price, as you say, compared to all the trouble I wasn't willing to go to, to remove pictures, etc.
I didn't get to the how much part of the deal...and $5.00 sound very reasonable...especially if it stays $5.00.
I did discover that I had uploaded some huge pictures...my camera has a variety of settings and paying attention at every level of detail would help.
Thanks again everyone! Oh, but wait, where are those organizing tips I need?
Thanks for stopping by my blog:) I would love to be picking snowpeas and strawberries and basil. I'm afraid I'm no help for you on these blogging issues. I probably am doing everything wrong -- I don't even know how to resize the pictures or anything.
Jeannette, did you end up deciding to pay for photo storage? It seems excessive to me and subject to increased fees in the future, especially if you also store your photos for your own use, like printing, on your computer - think of all the energy and emissions we collectively use and generate by electronically storing duplicates.
I, too, have wondered what other bloggers do and how to resize on Mac without buying fancy photo editing software (http://natureid.blogspot.com/2012/03/what-do-other-blogspot-bloggers-do.html and http://natureid.blogspot.com/2012/05/vernal-pool-bent-grass-051112-fort-ord.html). However, it's now my understanding that if you choose not to pay for additional photo storage after you reach your free storage limit, Picasa Web Albums (where all your blogspot pics are stored) will automatically resize to the free allowable size: http://support.google.com/picasa/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1224181 Plus, did you know you have the option to resize and save directly in Picasa Web Albums without needing to repost any pictures to your blog?
Finally, yes, once again, I have fiddled with how best to organize labels considering I have 800+ labels for 1000+ posts. I still use the old blogger interface, because I haven't liked the way the new interface currently shows labels for editing - I'm hoping this will improve by the time google forces bloggers to switch. Right now, I use the automated labels widget, then copy to my index page and occasionally selectively sort to grouped indices posts that I set up last year. It can be work intensive to keep updated, but I don't like the way my cloud deluge looks on my home page and it takes a long time to load, especially for blog followers with older computers. At some point, I hope to figure out the coding to automatically group my labels to pages or posts.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me (linked from my blogger profile).
Thank you so much Jeannette and Jeannette's readers :] for all the info! I had the same problem so I am now working on getting my blog back to working order. =]
